We are looking for a highly creative, data-driven Video Editor to join our team and produce viral short-form content for a rapidly growing chess channel. In this role, you will transform raw gameplay, grandmaster highlights, and educational chess concepts into fast-paced, highly engaging Shorts. The ideal candidate understands the mechanics of retention, knows how to craft a compelling visual hook, and favors a clean, minimalist aesthetic over cluttered, over-the-top graphics.

Skills and requirements
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end editing of 15-60 second vertical videos showcasing chess strategies, traps, and historical moments, ensuring a high-energy pace from the outset. This will involve implementing retention mechanics, such as strategic pattern interrupts, dynamic zooms, and visual hooks, to maximize Average View Duration (AVD) and replay value. Additionally, the candidate will design clean, minimalist, and highly readable on-screen captions, highlighting key board movements or commentary without cluttering the screen. They will also source and mix high-quality sound effects (SFX) and trending background music to elevate the narrative and pacing. The candidate is expected to actively pitch new visual formats and stay up-to-date with current short-form trends within the creator economy. Requirements: To be considered for this role, candidates must have proven experience in creating high-performing short-form content, with a strong portfolio demonstrating their capabilities (please provide links to previous work). Proficiency in professional software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or DaVinci Resolve is essential. A sharp eye for design and a deep understanding of premium, clean aesthetics are also required, with the ability to balance content and empty space effectively. While not essential, a basic understanding of chess terminology (openings, blunders, checkmates) and familiarity with top grandmasters would be a significant advantage, streamlining the editing process. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage project files effectively and meet consistent upload deadlines, are also crucial.
